PW500 not working (for WH1409 v2)

I have a problem with my tablet (WH1409 v2). The pen draws without contact with the pad, moves files about my desktop and folders and clicks. Any effective solution in view?

  • My daughter's computer is not recognizing the pen

  • Hi ken brown, there are several reasons why a pen is not recognized by your computer:

    1. Improper tablet driver installation
    2. Defective cable
    3. Broken pen
    4. The tablet driver is not correct or may not be the latest version
    5. Defective port in the computer or the tablet
    6. Defective tablet

    We just need to rule out each possible reason until we can pinpoint the root cause of the issue. Kindly try the following steps:

    1. Uninstall the tablet driver, unplug the tablet from the computer and after a few seconds, plug it back in. Test if the tablet works without the tablet driver. 
    2. Unplug the tablet from the computer again and reboot your computer. Turn off your antivirus and make sure you don't have any drawing software open. Download and install the latest driver for your tablet which you can download from this link: Huion 420 Graphic Tablet Drivers
      • After installing the tablet driver, connect your tablet to your computer and check if the tablet driver shows "Device connected". If it doesn't, please check if the “HuionTabletConsole” process has been enabled properly in your Activity Monitor. If it has not been enabled properly, you will need to restart the “ HuionTabletConsole ” process. That means you need to restart the driver. After the tablet driver shows "Device connected", proceed to the next step below.
      • On the other hand, if the tablet driver does show as "Device connected", go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Accessibility. Add the "PenTabletDriver" and "HuionTabletConsole" to your whitelist and don't forget to click the lock to prevent further changes after adding the said apps.
    3. Change the pen's battery with a new one and don't forget to press the power button to turn it on.
    4. Make sure that the battery is properly inserted inside the pen and is inserted in the right direction.
    5. Check if the negative terminal is stuck. If it is, you can fix it by using tweezers or a pocket knife.
