What is Huion PenTech 3.0 technology?

In 2020, Huion released its latest Kamvas series, Kamvas 13, Kamvas 22, and Kamvas 22 Plus. Each of them is equipped with a battery-free pen PW517 featuring Huion PenTech 3.0 technology. What is the Huion PenTech 3.0 technology? This article will go through the evolution of Huion’s pen technology and give you a perspective of how Huion gradually upgraded its pen technology from 1.0 to 3.0.

PenTech 1.0

The first generation of pens is a battery pen, first launched on H420. Although it’s easy to replace the battery, and a single 3A battery supports 800 hours of continuous usage, the changing process was quite annoying. The position of the battery breaks the weight distribution of the pen and causes a poor user experience.

In 2012.3.30, Huion introduced PenTech 1.1, which upgraded the battery pen to a rechargeable pen. The rechargeable pen was first launched on the K58 Model. No more battery replacement and a full charge can support 40 hours of usage.

No more annoying battery-changing process, but you still need to charge the battery. Since the pen still has a battery, a rechargeable one, the heavy weight of the pen will cause fatigue while using it for an extended period.

Since you cannot replace the battery, the battery will eventually break down.

PenTech 2.0

Huion introduced the PenTech 2.0 battery-free pen on 2017.08.30 and equipped it on H640P. The purpose of the new battery-free pen is to use Electromagnetic Resonance Technology and finally get rid of the battery constraint.

But the battery-free pen still uses the same internal structure as the rechargeable pen, including sensor and pen nib shape, which results in a wider idling distance and cursor offset on the edges of the pen display.

PenTech 3.0

To achieve a better user experience, Huion first brought PenTech 3.0 with the KAMVAS 13 pen display. The new generation pen uses a new sensor model. The sensor position is lower from 6mm to 3.5mm. A lower sensor position means quicker response and reduces the idling distance from 0.8mm to 0.3mm. The pen nib shape is also optimized for better accuracy. With the new PenTech 3.0, the pen now follows every pen movement tightly. The new generation pen can be used with felt pen nibs. The felt pen nib increases the friction when drawing and brings you a pen-on-paper drawing experience.

From an old-fashioned battery pen to a high-tech, battery-free pen, it brings together the idea of pursuing optimal user experiences through the effort of the technical team.
