What Is a Pressure Sensitive Stylus?

Abstract: If you have no idea about what a pressure-sensitive stylus is and you know nothing about the types of pressure sensitive stylus, you can check out the contents below and this article will explain what you need to know.

Pen tablets and pen displays developed on the basis of electromagnetic resonance technology are only used in some specific fields due to their specialty. Although Huion products are of satisfactory performance, people who have little knowledge about digital painting and e-signing still remain unfamiliar to our products. Accordingly, we write this article to introduce some fundamental knowledge about pressure sensitive stylus.

As far as those occupational designers are concerned, although their daily creative work can be supported by various softwares on the computer, including Photoshop, CorelDRAW, ComicStudio, a more realistic way to visualize them is to draw with a pen. A pressure sensitive pen can render the images in your mind on a pen tablet or pen display, especially when you are drawing objects of complicated structure, because it just feels like drawing on a real paper.

Different from the general digital pen, the pen nib of the pressure sensitive pen has pressure sensor which means a pressure sensitive pen can not only be used for writing but also can render lines of various shapes by applying different pressure to the pen nib. Normally, the higher the pressure sensitivity, the faster the pen responds to the changes in the users' pressure.

There are three types of pressure sensitive pens available in the market at present; wired and charge needed, wireless and charge needed, wireless and battery-free.

A wired stylus refers to the one with an output voltage, while the wireless one refers to the one without. In other words, a wired pressure sensitive pen consumes battery and needs charging, while the battery-free one doesn’t.

Pressure sensitive pens of different models are not absolutely compatible with each other, for example, the battery-free pen is not compatible with the rechargeable pen or battery pen. However, such example does not mean two rechargeable pens are a hundred percent compatible with each other. It is encouraged to consult Huion online customer service for specific inquiries.
