Pen Lag

Using a Q11 on iMac running Mojave 10.14.6 and Huion Driver V14.4.4.191025. 


The pen works fine for 45 minutes to an hour then an annoying lag develops in the pen. The tablet is about 2 months old. I am using it to teach Geometry and Physics online and it is causing major problems. 


  • Hi Joel Palmer, since you are using Mac Mojave, please try using Driver version 14.3.11 or 14.3.10. Please make sure you don't just drag the driver to your trash. Instead, open the driver and click on the gear found on the upper right-hand corner of the driver panel then click on the uninstall button.   • I'm using a Kamvas Pro 16 (model number GT-156) 


    I've been using this tablet since December 2019 and yesterday the pen started lagging. This tablet is all I have to make art on and the lag has been really annoying. I try to make long, smooth strokes and not even halfway through the stroke the pen just stops drawing. Even when I draw slowly it's still lagging. I have to hold it completely straight, vertically, over the tablet and draw extremely slowly. This is making my lines messy and making me take unnecessary time to complete a drawing. 


    I uninstalled my huion driver correctly and installed the new driver today.  For the first 30 minutes the pen was fine but then it started lagging again. 

    Keep in mind that I have been changing the nib and still nothing is working.

    Please help me. 

  • Huion does not have a solution and doesn't seem to care about finding one. I am on a mac running Mojave 10.14.6.  I found that when it starts lagging I could open the Activity Monitor and search for a tablet. Two programs will show up. If I stop both and restart Huion then the lag goes away. I have to do this every couple of hours. Now the software will not run. I even downloaded the newest drivers and it still won't work. 


    How I have a $100 paperweight on my desk.

    Have you tried  using a different driver version? Kindly try Driver_14.4.5.200611 if you haven't before and we would appreciate a feedback whether using a different driver resolves your issue or not. 


    Did you experience the lag ever since you got your tablet? If you didn't before, did you update your system before the lag started or did it just start without any system or program changes on your computer?

  • Hi Franklin Lewis, may I know the driver version you used and your MacOS version? Have you updated your system or made any changes on it before you experienced the lag? If you are not using the latest driver which is Driver_14.4.5.200611, kindly try using that driver version and check if it will resolve your issue.

  • I don't use a Mac, sorry for not specifying, I'm using Windows 10.
    I didn't make any updates to the system and I updated my driver to the most recent Windows version the day I wrote that initial complaint.

    The pen wasn't lagging with the latest driver for the first 30 minutes but then it started lagging again.

    Thank you for replying, is there anything else I can try to fix my tablet?

  • Hi Franklin Lewis, sorry about the confusion on your computer operating system. Please try the following steps:

    1. Uninstall your tablet driver, unplug your tablet from your computer then plug it back in. Test your tablet without any driver and check if you still experience the lagging issue. If the lag no longer occurs, then the issue is caused by the driver. But if you still have the same issue, it is possible that your issue is caused by your pen, tablet or your computer. 
    2. If you have access to another computer, please try using your tablet with another computer so we can check if the issue happens even with another computer. 
    3. If you have another drawing program, kindly check if the issue is the same with all drawing programs you have. Kindly provide the drawing programs you are using and its versions.

  • Hi there, 
    I tested the pen without the driver installed and it worked fine. The Drive I had been using was the most recent one (2020-07-10), Should I use an older driver?

  • Hi Franklin Lewis, thank you for the update. Yes, kindly try Driver_14.8.33.632_beta. If you still experience the lag, then try Driver_14.7.154.586 instead. Kindly revert back if any one of these drivers work or not.

  • I just tested both of those drivers and the lag started again, I assume the problems with the lag is caused the pen?
