Not working on MacOS Big Sur

Driver stopped working on MacOS Big Sur. The update is out now for recent macs. 

The Driver will always say it's disconnected no matter if the tablet service is restarted or the latest driver is re-installed.

It's not my tablet because it works as expected on Windows.

  • Hi David Hawkey, getting a "no signal" display on your tablet would normally mean that the tablet was not able to successfully connect to your computer's display. Thus, may you please check if you've properly inserted the cables as seen from the diagram below:

  • After investigating on Mac Rumors forums regarding big sur issues:

     -Some old Mac computers updated to Big Sur are experiencing an issue where a USB stops being available after disconnecting a device. When the Huion tablet display is turned off, it detects the usb disconnection on Mac, causing the usb port of the mac to stop being available, and so the tablet stops working even when attempting to reconnect it.


    -This issue does not affect external USB hubs, such as the two usb ports found on the official Mac USB keyboard.


    -I can confirm the tablet is detected with no issues when connecting/disconnecting on my keyboard USB ports.


    The issue may be a issue with the Big Sur update itself.


    I recommend anyone having issues to try plugging the tablet to usb hubs, such as Thunderbolt hubs or mac keyboard usb ports

  • I have been having issues too after updating to Big Sur in early December. For me, my KamvasPro 20 (2019) has a hovering pen issue, which is not there when I use the tablet without any driver at all. Any idea why this is and how I can fix it? 

  • Hi Marijn Adams, kindly send an email to service@huion.com so we can further test if your hovering issue is caused by the driver or the pen. We may need you to test your tablet using our software. Please include the following in your email:

    • Serial number (found at the back of your tablet, right after S/N)
    • Order number
    • Version of the driver you've installed on your computer
    • Please mention that you are using MacOS Big Sur

  • Hello is there a driver update for the WH1409 model? It stopped working on Big Sur . I would like to know what I could do regarding my concern. I have emailed HUION a few years back when I first used my tablet on the MacBook and it directed me to the WH1409(2048) Driver 11.1.8. 

  • Hi ppsycho, if you have the WH1409 (2048) model, kindly install the attached driver. I've also attached the instructions on how to uninstall and install the driver.

  • Hi there!


    I’ve downloaded the PenTabletDriver 12.1.1 but after the installment, nothing works. No pop-ups, no files like on the screenshots in the guide in sections ‘Input Monitoring’ and ‘Accessibility’. I’ve tried to do so several times but still nothing. There is even no ‘HuionDriver’ folder. The tablet doesn’t work despite the message ‘the device is connected’. I don’t understand where the problem is. 


    My device is MacBook Pro with OS BigSur 11.2.


    Please help. I’ve attached the screenshots below.

  • Hi Sasha Williams, may I know what model do you have? If your tablet has 8192 pen pressure level, kindly install Version 14 drivers. It is better to check our official driver download page through this link to know the latest driver version for your tablet: https://www.huion.com/download/.   • Hi,


    I have the H420 tablet, I installed the 2020 driver and it installed fine though the pen is struggling with pressure sensitivity and following - its jumping around and very jittery(not usable). Is this a problem with Big Sur? (I have also tried replacing battery and pen nib).


    My device is m1 MacBook Air.

  • I'm on the new 2020 Macbook Pro (M1 chip) on Big Sur and my H420 doesn't work. Though the driver .pkg file claims to have installed successfully, I cannot find "TabletDriver" anywhere on "Input monitoring" or "accessibility" in "Security and privacy. 


    I'm sure it's not the tablet, since it works fine on my Windows 10 laptop.

  • Yes @Orliza Amodia, I've followed the instructions. With 12.1.1 on Big Sur though, the TabletDriverPanel and the PenPressureTest do not install. The pen can be used to hover the mouse, but pressing it down doesn't work (but I see a green light on the tablet when I press the pen tip down so the hardware is fine). HuionDriver doesn't open in the Applications folder, it says I do not have enough permissions (see attached file).


    I also tried installing driver 12.0.4. With 12.0.4, TabletDriverPanel and PenPressureTest installs, but the tablet doesn't work at all, not even as a mouse hover, even if TabletDriverPanel says it's "connected".


    Bottom line: Something is wrong with the 12.1.1 too.

  • Hi mikaela irene, the 12.04 driver version is not compatible with Big Sur. We have the most updated one which is 12.1.1 which works on Big Sur. If you can't open the said folder, please follow the steps below:

    1. Right-click the Huion Tablet folder then choose "Show Info"
    2. Expand "Sharing & Permissions" and make sure that it has the following permissions:
