I was disappointed with new PW550S

Hi there. I've been drawing my whole life as a professional game concept artist and illustrator for about 10 years, and I've been using pen displays my whole life, and I've always used Wacom, and I bought my first non-Wacom Huion Kamvas Pro 24 (4K) model. I was very happy with it, and I've been using Huion products ever since.

The PW517 pen worked well, up to a maximum pressure of 8192 levels with a comfortable amount of pressure, and was perfect in its default settings. But I wanted a pen with a thinner diameter, and when the PW550S was released, I was happy to buy it.

However, I was a bit disappointed with the PW550S.

imageIt doesn't reach 100% pressure even when drawing at the same comfortable pressure as the PW517.

This is a pen pressure design that I thought was a fatal problem with Wacom's 8192 level Pro Pen 2, Pro Pen 3D, and other Wacom products, and I saw it in the PW550S. This pen pressure design was a big reason why I disliked Wacom.

While painting, doing concept art, I had to apply a lot of force to the pen to reach 100% pen pressure, which caused a lot of pen failures.

I also saw a lot of professional artists around me using older 2048 level models to save their wrists.

A pressure design like the PW517, with its comfortable 8192 levels of pen pressure, would be ideal.

I wanted to make sure to pass on this feedback to Huion.

  • Hi YB, I'm sorry about the pressure sensitivity experience you have with your new PW550S pen. As verified from our factory, the pressure curve for both PW517 and PW550S is the same, so there shouldn't be any difference when you apply the same amount of pressure. I will create a ticket for you so we can look into this further.

    Best Regards,
