Windows computer press key issues

I want to make one of my press keys zoom in but when I go to enter ctrl + + it only makes it ctrl+= and it won’t register as a zoom shortcut, I have no idea what key would be an equivalent as it won’t enter in correctly, even if I use the number pad instead
