Not working on MacOS Big Sur

Driver stopped working on MacOS Big Sur. The update is out now for recent macs. 

The Driver will always say it's disconnected no matter if the tablet service is restarted or the latest driver is re-installed.

It's not my tablet because it works as expected on Windows.

Unfortunately, we found bugs on the official Big Sur release which is why we have to update our drivers. We apologize for the wait. We expect to release the updated driver either over the weekend or early next week.

    Hi Igor Barbosa Jales, yes, we will have an updated driver for Huion 420 as well; after the updated Version 14 driver is released.

  • Ben Cox, Is this new driver ( version Driver_14.5.0.201120 ) 100% compatible with macOS Big Sir?
  • As expected, the update works now on Big Sur.

    Something I still wonder is why the System Info shows the tablet as a Composite Device. Wish it listed it as Huion Kamvas. Does the tablet makes use of Apple's Driverkit?

  • William It seems to be so far. I’ve not tested extensively, but so far all is good. Ben
  • I have done some testing and this driver is just partially working.

    It fails frequently to detect the tablet on cold boot, sometimes I have to reboot the mac in order to make the usb connectivity to be detected. it's definitely not a cable issue because it just works after several restarts of the mac.

    This tablet should get a firmware upgrade that improves the usb connectivity on MacOS. the usb connectivity on Macs appears to be a frequent issue

  • I am having a similar issue.. I cant see my dock on either screen Laptop or tablet. I unplug the USB and the tablet connects after rebooting the screen and reconnecting the USB and or the HDMI cable. I can't get to my programs on the dock or in Finder BC I cant see them... maybe this is a me issue but I can't compare to anything else. Any help would be appreciated. 

  • It seems like the driver is still not 100% ready for MacOS Big Sur.
  • Hi CRAIG WOODHAM, kindly go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Dock & Menu Bar then uncheck "Automatically hide and show the Dock" option.

  • I cannot get it to work with big sur. I have the Q620M. Very frustrating. 

  • Hi Paul Heerink, may I know the version of the driver that you are using? What steps have you done so far? 

    Please try the following steps if you haven't done so:

    1. Properly uninstall the tablet driver from your computer and make sure that there are no other tablet drivers installed on your computer, whether from us or other brands.
    2. Unplug your tablet from your computer.
    3. Go to: Mac > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Accessibility. Remove HuionTablet and TabletDriverAgent apps if you still see it on the list of apps.
    4. Restart your computer.
    5. Download the latest driver for Q620M from this link: Huion Q620M Graphic Tablet Drivers.
    6. While your tablet is not connected to your computer, install the said driver. After it is installed, plug your tablet to your computer and check if the driver can detect your tablet as connected.

  • The version was the latest what i downloaded. I removed everything what you suggested. And it is working now !!!  Thanks for your help 



  • Hi Paul Heerink, I'm glad that it's working now. You're welcome. Sometimes, the connection issue is caused when you connect your tablet to your computer while you install the driver. Thus, it is best to install the driver without the tablet connected. Other times, it just takes a computer restart to make the driver work.
