Solved

brush and eraser switching

Please, help

I use two graphic editors - Photoshop and Illustrator. The problem is switching the pen from the brush to the eraser. In Illustrator, I configured this function, it works. But at the same time, in Photoshop, the brush does not switch to the eraser!

My tablet H640p. I downloaded the driver version v14.8.90.1126

  • Hi Екатерина Литовская, we have replied to your ticket last Feb. 10th. May you please respond back?

The reason why the button works in your Illustrator but not in Photoshop is possibly because the shortcuts are different for these two software. Please try the following steps that may help you in configuring the press keys in different software:

    1. Open the HUION tablet driver and click on Settings.
    2. Make sure you are in General Settings
    3. Click on "Add App"
    4. On the pop-up window, choose the software.
    5. Click "OK" and the software will be added on the list of apps then click "Edit". Please see an image for Step #s 1-5 below:
    6. Select "Press keys" and "Digital Pen" and change the necessary shortcut functions you want the express keys and pen buttons to perform for the specific software.
    7. Click "Apply" or "OK". Please see image below for Step #s 6 (#1 in the image) and 7 (#2 in the image)
    8. Repeat Steps 1-7 for all the necessary drawing software you want to configure.

  • Hi,

I have resolved the issue. the problem is not with the tablet, in the Microsoft PowerPoint shortcut key E is for complete ink removal from the slide and control+E is for selective erase during presentation mode.. so  I had to only customise the key options of the tablet for Microsoft PowerPoint.. thank you

  • Hi Nitesh Yelve, thank you for the update. We are very glad to know the problem is solved. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us. We will try our best to help you.

    • Hello! I'm using HS64 tablet and I want to switch between brush & eraser with a single button.
    • Is it possible? And if it's not then what is the use of the switch function, how I can use that?image

  • Hi Pawan Dangi, the "Switch Brush" option in the driver has different functions for different software.

    • Photoshop - switching between brush colors
    • Krita - switching between brush and eraser
    • Medibang and Clip Studio Paint - switching between different brush types

If you are using a drawing software other than Krita, you can just assign a different button for the brush and another one for the eraser.

  • I'm using photoshop and you are not getting my actual point. see the picture below that I mentioned.

    • Suppose I assigned that button for the Eraser(E) and currently I selected Brush(B) or any other tool and If I press that it will obviously bring Eraser(E) here is no problem.
My question is it possible to assign two factions at a single button?

    • I want to assign two letters Brush(B) and Eraser(E) at a single button to make it completely reversible.
    • like a button that will switch multiple times between brush(B) and Eraser(E).
    • like this B;E;B;E;B;E;B;E;B;E...so on
    I don't think it's possible :/

  • Hi Pawan Dangi, I'm sorry but you cannot assign two functions to a single button; each button can only perform one function.

  • Hi,

I am trying to use the switch brush option and I already did the steps above and it still does not work for most of the programs for example: MS WORD or ONE NOTE FOR W 10. Also, for example in the usual One Note application, it does work but it keeps bugging all the time...

In the MS WORD it only goes from the pen to the eraser, but it does not come back to the pen I was using.

In the ONE NOTE FOR W 10, it simply does not work. Moreover, I could not select the program in the Windows pop-up (step 4), therefore I assigned it to all programs and it still does not work...

To solve it I learned how to make a script in AutoKey, which would assign a hotkey to a click of the mouse in specific coordinates on the screen. All in all, it does work now most of the time but it is not perfect at all.

In conclusion, I would like to know if there´s a way of this working without a third program running?

Thank you for your help in advance,

    Vasco

  • Hi Vasco Tamen, the Switch Brush function does work in switching between a pen and eraser in both Word and OneNote. May you please uninstall and reinstall our tablet driver? When installing the driver, please make sure that your tablet is not connected to your computer, your antivirus is turned off and all your drawing or writing programs are closed. It is encouraged to restart your computer before reinstalling the driver. Try to use the latest driver version for your tablet.

  • Hi Orliza Amodia,

Thank you for replying. I did everything as you suggested but it is everything in the same situation.

    In the standard One Note app it works relatively fine;

    In the One Note for Windows 10 app it does not work (even changing from pen to eraser);

In the MS Word works only from pen to eraser.

My tablet is Huion H1161, I updated the driver until the latest version I believe (v14.8.166.1482).

Is there anything I could do more?

  • Hi Vasco Tamen, the OneNote we've tested is the software itself; not the OneNote for Windows 10 app. Based on the list of keyboard shortcuts for OneNote for Windows 10 app, there is none for eraser. Thus, I'm afraid this is not possible for the said app.

With regard to the MS Word, kindly try to reinstall the said software if possible. May I know the version you are using?

  • Hi Orliza Amodia,

My MS Word version is the 2102 (Build 13801.20294 click-to-run).

    Thank you,
